Natural cardboard set-up for temporary events

Sustainable furniture for a sustainable future

Hangar Bicocca Foundation

Via Chiese, 2 - 20126 Milano

An ecological set-up was considered the ideal match for the presentation of the new digital platform of the Lombardy Region created to promote projects for a more sustainable future.

In Rete is a prestigious Italian communications agency offering strategic consultancy services to large companies and public bodies that guides its partners towards a successful future with dedication and great expertise. The agency commissioned us at Natur Design to create an ecological set-up for the presentation of Lombardia 2030, a section of the Open Innovation platform that aims to collect projects in line with the social, environmental and economic development of the region itself. Lombardy 2030 is dedicated to citizen participation, collaboration and designing a sustainable future in line with the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was held in November at the Foundation Pirelli Hangar Bicoccaa dynamic place for experimentation and research, which is among the largest horizontally developed exhibition spaces in Europe and has seen the meeting of public administration and stakeholders to mark out a path of growth and redesign the trajectories to be followed in the light of profound economic and geopolitical changes.

Cardboard becomes an art complement

Cardboard becomes an art complement when placed in a space that makes art its essence. Of the 15,000 square metre area, we set up part of it with tables and chairs that served as a meeting, sharing and discussion point for the personalities who came to the event. The biggest challenge was to harmonise the natural cardboard furniture with the industrial atmosphere of the hangar. The large sheet metal walls, soft lighting and large art installations representing almost decadent towers emphasised the urgency of plans for a more sustainable future to protect the environment and the entire country. I nostri arredi per eventi sostenibili hanno risposto prontamente alla chiamata. So we opted for Havana cardboard tables from the Otro large size series, durable and understated with an environmentally friendly clear laminate top and the printing of the region’s logo and numbering on the surface. For the seats, we have chosen the Ventin line with its simple, linear style and comfortable light-coloured upholstery. Along the route, self-supporting panels from the Toulast line printed with the event graphics were positioned to act as landmarks for the public. We also did not neglect the safety aspect at a time when the pandemic is still a threat by providing cardboard gel columns for hand cleansing.
