Rome Innovation Hub 2024 opens the door to a sustainable future

How to emphasise the value of a profession by choosing ecological and functional fittings in natural cardboard

Auditorium della Tecnica

Viale Umberto Tupini, 65 Roma

We created an eco-friendly set-up to host the National Convention of the Technical Professions, held in Rome on 16 and 17 February 2024, which represented a crucial moment of confrontation for the future of the sector. The event, organised by Rete Professioni Tecniche (RPT) i collaboration with the communication agency Penta Studio and sponsored by numerous bodies including the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, brought together over 1,000 delegates from all over Italy.

At the heart of the proceedings was an analysis of the challenges and opportunities that the current landscape offers technical professionals. Among the key topics discussed were digital and green transition, environmental sustainability, land safety and redevelopment of the building stock.

The main objective of the convention was to strengthen the strategic role of the technical professions in the development of the country. In an ever-changing environment, the skills and experience of engineers, architects, surveyors and industrial experts are of paramount importance for the realisation of innovative and sustainable works.

The event was also an opportunity to consolidate the internal cohesion of the sector and to promote collaboration between the different disciplines.

Setting up an event effectively is a crucial moment for its success. In keeping with Natur Design’s philosophy, we created an innovative eco-sustainable set-up using only ecological materials, with a focus on the use of natural cardboard for the entire Technical Auditorium that hosted the convention. The space was carefully designed, dividing the area into individual stations with functional furniture designed to encourage comfortable meetings and productive discussions with the public.

The reception desks in the Arolla series are characterised by their smooth, wide front, ideal for displaying the logos of participating companies. Each workstation was complete with seating, offering a choice of stools and chairs for maximum comfort. To complete the individual workstations and harmonise the whole, we have equipped each workstation with a self-supporting back wall made of cardboard panels surrounded by columns to ensure stability.

To ensure that the atmosphere was cosy and elegant, we included lounges with sofas and coffee tables from the Golliaz and Ortles series. These furnishings not only provide comfort, but also add a touch of sophistication to the ambience.

No detail has been overlooked, including the waste bins, demonstrating our commitment to environmental sustainability. The eco-friendly fittings made of natural cardboard proved not only aesthetically pleasing, but also practical and quick to assemble, allowing for complete customisation of spaces to suit the specific needs of the event. With our ecological approach, we prove that it is possible to combine aesthetics with environmental responsibility, offering state-of-the-art solutions for successful events.

Testimonials of sustainability and innovation

We ourselves have been testimonials of sustainability and innovation through the use of cardboard to create environmentally friendly fittings. Our presence was underlined by our participation with a dedicated stand, highlighting our commitment to supporting the event and the importance that the professionals present attach to sustainability.

The general layouts were deliberately left neutral to ensure a fair representation of all participating companies, and their reuse at other events, further emphasising the culture of recycling and combating waste. Our stand, on the other hand, stood out as a tangible example of how cardboard can embody the future of fittings, offering a tangible example of how we can customise spaces by shaping cardboard into shapes and colours.

Our stand was a visual manifesto of innovation, highlighting the versatility of the material and its positive impact on sustainable practices.
